Great Spotted Woodpecker

Leonard Appelbee (1914–2000) studied at Goldsmiths and the RCA. He exhibited widely in the years following World War II. In 1951 he was one of sixty artists commissioned by the Arts Council to paint a picture as part of the Festival of Britain Celebration.
