Gardeners Prefer Shell
Cedric Morris (9th Baronet, 1889–1982) is considered to be one of the best 20th century painters of flowers and garden produce as well as birds, animals, landscapes and portraits. His first one man show in Rome in 1922 was closed by the Fascists. His paintings are now internationally known. In 1937 he and the painter Arthur Lett-Haines (with whom he lived for 60 years) founded the East Anglian School of painting which had several well-known pupils including Lucian Freud. He also taught design at the Royal College of Art.
