AEC Regent MkIII RT Double Decker Bus

On Display

Specially designed for London service, the initial 150 54-seater double deckers of this type appeared in 1939. Between 1946 and 1954, over 4,700 on AEC chassis and 2,000 on Leyland Titan chassis were built. This highly standardised red London bus design was to become world famous, and examples remained in arduous city service until 1979. Outstandingly reliable mechanically, the diesel engine drives through a pre-selector gearbox and fluid flywheel transmission.
