The first Rover appeared in 1884. It was a tricycle, made by a company established to manufacture sewing machines, which later went into pedal cycle production. In 1902 a Rover motorcycle was marketed and within two years, the first car.
Introduced in 1963, the clean lines of the Rover 2000 transformed the company's staid image. A strong unitary shell with bolt-on panels, the car was awarded the AA Gold Medal for motoring safety. An unusual suspension system, hydraulically damped steering and all round disc brakes combined to give excellent handling.
This fine example had one owner from new.
