Following the introduction of Drag Racing from the USA in the 1960s, the sport has grown in popularity in Britain and across Europe. Dave Wilson, a top British Drag Racing competitor since the late 1970s, drove this car to second place in the Top Methanol Dragster class of the 2002 FIA European Championship, a feat he later repeated in 2009.
During 2002 the car recorded a best elapsed time (ET) for the standing start quarter mile of 5.507 seconds, reaching a best terminal speed of 259.82 mph. The Silverline livery was applied post 2002.
