Ariel Square 4

On Display

This model, commonly known as the Square Four, first appeared at the Olympia Show in November 1930. It was remarkable for its unorthodox four-cylinder engine.

The frame and other components were substantially similar to those of the established machines in the Ariel range. The smooth, zestful acceleration of the Square Four was a revelation in comparison with the single-cylinder machines so popular at the time. A 599cc was introduced for 1932 and a 997cc version in 1937.
