Announced in July 1958, as an entirely new concept, the Ariel Leader was an instant sensation. Radical lines combined motorcycle performance and handling with the weather protection of a scooter. Die–cast components, pressed steel frame and thermo-plastic body panels kept machining to a minimum and allowed quick and accurate production. The Leader came with a long accessory list. Purchased by the original owner for tax reasons this machine was used only once, and then put into storage. It has recorded only 36 miles!
