Austin Clifton 12/4

On Display

During the early 1920s, hundreds of small car makers were being ousted by the larger and more successful firms. Introduced in 1922, when imported foreign makes were causing a slump in British car sales, production of the Twelve restored Austin's popularity. Subsequently, the Birmingham works became the largest motor factory in what was regarded as the British Empire.

This example arrived at Beaulieu with a rather makeshift utility body, and was rebuilt to represent a typical touring model.
