The first AA motorcycle combination was put on the road in 1919. At first they were called First Aid Outfits, although later this was changed to Road Service Outfits.
It was in the year of this model, 1960, that the famous salute to members was dropped, a tradition which dated back to 1906. 'When a patrol does not salute, stop and ask the reason.'
