The introduction of the sloper models in 1927 marked a determined attempt to popularise machines which were quiet mechanically and properly silenced. Moreover, the off-vertical cylinder location, which improved cylinder head cooling and allowed frame height to be reduced, set a fashion to be followed by other designers.
The sloper came with side-valve and overhead valve 350cc, 500cc and 600cc engines. They were attractive machines although sluggish in performance and the steering was indifferent.
