Bugatti Type 15

On Display

When Ettore Bugatti moved to Molsheim, the first production model to appear was the 8 valve Type 13. Its top speed of nearly 60mph/96.56kph from only 1327cc was due to the advance design of the overhead camshaft engine.

First owned by Madame Bugatti, this longer wheelbase Type 15 was reputed to have seen service on the battlefields during World War I. Brought to England in 1920, it was rebuilt from a saloon into a 2-seater sports tourer. From 1939, it was entered in races, rallies and hill climbs, always with great success.

The National Motor Museum's car is the second oldest Bugatti surviving and the oldest in this country.
