With the Xsara WRC, Citroën claimed a place in rally legend. In 2004, Spaniard Sébastien Loeb became the first non-Scandinavian driver to win the Swedish Rally. That year, with co-driver Daniel Elena, Loeb also triumphed at the 72nd Monte Carlo Rally, and again in Cyprus and Turkey to win the World Rally Championship.
The Team then pulled off a one-two in Argentina when Loeb was runner-up to Carlos Sainz. History will also note that Loeb's 26th victory, also behind the wheel of a Xsara, made him the absolute record holder for the number of wins in the World Rally Championship.
