De Dion Bouton Model Q 6hp

On Display

In 1883, Count Albert de Dion and Georges Bouton came into partnership. Their first vehicles were steam tricycles. In 1899 they made their first small car.

This De Dion illustrates many of the problems faced by Edwardian motorists. The absence of a roof, windscreen and doors left the driver open to all weather conditions and road dust, necessitating a wardrobe of special motoring clothing. Oil lamps made night driving hazardous.
