Highlights of the Motoring Archives

Knight collection

Thanks to a generous donation by the Knight family, we now hold a substantial collection of material relating to the distinguished engineer and inventor, John Henry Knight. The collection includes photographic albums, lantern slides, scrapbooks, correspondence, and personal papers.

Archive donations

The National Motor Museum has received two very interesting and important donations of archive material. The first includes a handwritten letter by George Eyston. The second includes items relating to Sir Malcolm Campbell and John Cobb.

Our Archivist has catalogued the previously unprocessed papers of Margaret Smallwood (née Bradley), which contains material relating to a survey of a transnational road between London and Istanbul. The collection includes a promotional booklet published by the Automobile Association and all of the original artwork produced by Bradley as part of the survey. The collection is now available to view on Archives Hub, a national online database for archival collections.
