The first Swallow car to leave the company works displayed an almost identical body design to this model, the Tourer. Announced to the public in May 1927 it was an immediate success. Utilising the diminutive Austin Seven chassis, it made for an attractive sports runabout.

The 'beetle' or 'wasptail' was constructed of six aluminium sheets welded together and hand finished, achieving very neat joins. Spare wheel and luggage space was provided within this area, although a lack of internal supporting frames made it rather prone to damage.

The example in the National Motor Museum is the last known two-seater made by the Swallow company.
