BRM 1.5 litre V16 Type 15 MkI

Not on Display

The new British Racing Motor was completed in 1949, and for over twenty years the V16 BRM marked the high tide of road racing engine development. The supercharged 1½ litre engine was tuned to produce an incredible 500hp. BRM also introduced the disc brake to road racing. Despite drivers like Fangio, Moss and Hawthorn, the car never achieved success. Purchased for the nation with aid mainly from the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
