Creative Fun at the National Motor Museum

We run creative activities for children and families every summer using the Museum Collections as inspiration.

Last summer families were able to join our drop-in activities, inspired by the museum’s First World War commemorative project Caravans & Charabancs – Leisure Motoring After the First World War, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Sponsored by the Shell Heritage Art Collection, the Caravan and Motorhome Club and Meccano, visitors took part in a different activity each day. This included using Meccano to design and build a charabanc, creating a board game based on popular day trip destinations and following in the footsteps of post-First World War caravan builders by creating a model trailer caravan from recycled materials.
