About the Caravan Road Rally Project

About the project.

A variety of Road Rally memorabilia.

On transfer to the National Motor Museum in 2006, the Caravan and Motorhome Club Collection contained only a handful of items relating to Caravan Road Rally competitions.

The Club wanted to tell the full story of these thrilling events but first needed to fill a few gaps in the Collection.

In 2007 the Club set about gathering Caravan Road Rally material including memorabilia, photographs, film footage and oral history recordings along with information about the unique events. As a result, this exciting online exhibition was first launched in 2010, developed in partnership between the then Caravan Club and the National Motor Museum.

Three-time event winner Brendan Witter (left) and co-driver Michael Stevens reunited with The Caravan Trophy in 2014.

2014 marked 60 years since the very first Caravan Club British Caravan Road Rally event. To celebrate the occasion this online exhibition was updated with a range of new material.

Since 2010, the Caravan Road Rallying online exhibition has encouraged even more of those involved to get in touch with their memories. Many have kindly donated memorabilia, extending the Club’s Collection for its special anniversary year.

If you have any Caravan Road Rally memories or memorabilia please get in touch with The Caravan Club Collection. You can also share your own photographs of the event on our Flickr group.
