Tuesday 30 November 2021 – 10am-4.30pm
This course is now fully booked. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list please contact us.
Rachel is a contemporary glass & design artist who owns and runs Swanwick Studio, based in Titchfield. She has worked with a broad range of students of all abilities to design and create colourful, decorative pieces for both the home and garden. Using both stained and fused glass techniques Rachel will guide you through all stages of the process.
Here is what you can expect on the day: –
- The day will start with taking inspiration from the unique art deco styled Golden Arrow car in the Museum. Then join Rachel in the Collections Centre to enjoy a day of creativity focussed on the wonderful world of glass design & construction.
- You will be shown how to construct a traditional leaded framework within a set jig with pre-cut stained-glass strips.
- You will then be shown how to cut glass into simple shapes & use a variety of glass decoration techniques to create your own glass insert using colour & texture.
- Your glass insert will then be fired in a kiln & set into your leaded framework ready to be displayed in either your home or garden.
All tools and materials will be provided. We suggest you bring an apron and feel free to bring along any of your own ideas, pictures and designs, although lots of imagery and design ideas will be available as well as guidance throughout the day.
Please note: Your glass creations will need to go into the firing kiln and will therefore be available to collect approximately one week after the workshop.
Tea and coffee will be available, you can choose to bring a packed lunch or there is an onsite restaurant.
As the workshop is part of a grant-funded project we are able to offer it at a discounted rate of £40. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
