Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is the National Motor Museum’s governing body and currently comprises 16 trustees who meet at least quarterly.  The board oversees the strategic direction of the Trust and monitors progress in areas such as finance, governance, fundraising, and communications, as well as the core business of collections, learning and engagement.

The National Motor Museum Trust is a charitable organisation which aims to collect, conserve and present to the public vehicles and other items relating to the history of motoring.  It is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. Its trustees are recruited and appointed through an open application process with reference to a skills audit to ensure a broad base of experienced advisors. A separate recruitment process resulted in the appointment of a new Chair in 2023.

The mission of the Trust is: To share the stories of motoring, past and future, in a way that entertains, inspires and educates people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of interest in motoring.

We want the National Motor Museum to be widely recognised as one of the world’s greatest transport museums and a centre of excellence for historic vehicles. The role of the Trustees is to support and evaluate the effectiveness of the work of the Charity, its activities, and its staff and volunteers.
