Based on the company’s successful racing machines, the AJS 350cc overhead valve ‘big port’ first appeared in 1922 and remained popular for the rest of the decade, many seeing use in club racing. The H6 was the 1927 road going model, a racing version, the H7, was also available although not shown in the catalogue.
Believed to have been originally owned by Harry Vinnall, this motorcycle was used for grass track racing in the 1930s. Ted Craven purchased it in 1935, eventually retiring it from use in 1945. It was revived by Ted’s son John in 1972 and used in vintage grass track events until 1976. In 2013 ownership passed to John Hutchins who undertook an extensive restoration to original condition, which was completed in 2020.
