First seen in 1928, the Ascot-Pullin was an advanced design by Cyril Pullin. The maker’s advertising boasted of ‘52 special features’ including a pressed steel frame with enclosed engine and transmission, hydraulic brakes and easily detachable and interchangeable wheels. Other refinements included handlebars with built-in instrument panel and a windscreen. However, both handling and performance were disappointing and poor sales led to the firm’s closure in 1930.

Cyril Pullin was talented as both engineer and rider. He won the 1914 Isle of Man Senior TT on a Rudge and was a regular rider and record-breaker at Brooklands. In the 1930s he became a pioneer of helicopter development.
