Car enthusiast wins National Motor Museum prize draw

14 December 2023

Lord Montagu has handed the keys for a brand-new Mini Cooper Classic Convertible to the winner of the National Motor Museum Trust 2023 Prize Draw at Beaulieu.

Richard Clothier was presented with the sporty soft-top outside the Montagu ancestral home of Palace House.

Richard, from near Dorking, Surrey bought the winning ticket on a visit between Christmas and New Year last year after being persuaded to enter the raffle by his wife and daughter.

Richard says, “I actually deliver classic cars for a living, so I’m obviously interested in the car collection in the National Motor Museum. I’ve visited the Museum at Beaulieu many times, starting with visits with my Dad as a boy, and last visited on my motorbike in the summer.”

Present at the hand-over of the car keys was Rashid Lamjafjaf of Group 1 Mini, Farnborough who supplied the Mini.

The annual prize draw offers the chance to win a car for a £2 ticket and raises money for the National Motor Museum Trust, a charitable organisation which is dedicated to preserving and promoting motoring history.

The money-can’t-buy second prize of a seat on the 2024 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, with the chance to take part in the legendary event as a passenger in one of the National Motor Museum’s treasured historic vehicles (including accommodation in London for one night) has been won by Tracey MacDonald of Calne in Wiltshire, the holder of ticket number 06834. The third prize of a trip for three people around the New Forest, in a vehicle from the National Motor Museum collection, including a chocolate treat from the Beaulieu Chocolate Studio, ticket number 08506, was won by Jon Ellerbeck from Pagham near Bognor Regis.

Tickets will go on sale soon for a chance to win the 2024 National Motor Museum Trust car prize draw.
