Sunbeam 1000hp Scrapbook

Beaulieu's Autojumble is often the event to uncover rare motoring memorabilia and collectables. Our Heritage Consultant, Guy Loveridge, made an interesting find and purchased a rare scrapbook relating to World Land Speed Records and the Sunbeam 1000hp.

The scrapbook seems to have been compiled by a schoolboy in the 1920s and includes newspaper cuttings from the World Land Speed Record attempts of the era.

The cuttings are a fascinating collection of contemporary accounts of the heroics of World Land Speed attempts in Britain and in the USA.

A postcard included in the album is a promotional item from the Selfridges department store where Sunbeam 1000hp was displayed following Sir Henry Segrave's World Land Speed Record at Daytona beach in March 1927.
