Mary Kessell
Mary Kessell (1914–1977) was a designer, book illustrator, mural designer and painter. She started illlustrating books while still a student and in 1937 illustrated Miss Kimber by Osbert Sitwell. She designed murals for Westminster Hospital and the Imperial Chemical House at Millbank. Kessel was an official war artist based in Germany, and worked as a designer in the post-war Shell Studio at Shell-Mex House. Kessell was married to poster artist Tom Eckersley who also produced posters for Shell.
