John Skeaping
John Skeaping RA (1901–1984) was a sculptor and an important figure in the development of directly carved sculpture. A celebrated portrayer of animals in drawing and sculpture, he designed animal figures for Wedgewood in the 1920s. Skeaping was later commissioned to make sculptures of famous racehorses of the day. He was a member of Seven and Five Society, and was the first husband of Barbara Hepworth from 1925–1933.
