In 1958 Norton marked its Diamond Jubilee by introducing a new small bike, the appropriately named 250cc twin-cylinder Jubilee. It was the first 250cc Norton model to reach production. The engine was developed by Norton engineers, though much of the frame was sourced from other parts of the Associated Motor Cycles (AMC) group of companies. This is the re-styled Jubilee Standard, first introduced in late 1960.

Norton remained relatively independent following takeover by AMC. Over the next few years AMC’s influence increased and in 1962 Norton production moved from the famous Bracebridge Street factory in Birmingham to AMC’s works in Woolwich.
