Our new exhibition, Motoring in Miniature – The Toys of Your Childhood allows you to relive the joy and excitement of your favourite childhood toys.
Children’s toys have always mimicked adult life. Toy soldiers, doll’s houses, train sets and boats have been favourites since the nineteenth century. With the arrival of increasing numbers of motor cars on our streets from the turn of the 20th Century it wasn’t long before enterprising manufacturers started to produce toys inspired by the latest transport revolution.
Motoring in Miniature brings together hundreds of toys from our Collections. From tin plate and wooden toys, die-cast and slot cars, to pedal cars, radio control cars and computer games. These are the toys of your childhood.
Now you can create your own motoring in miniature with these specially created downloadable activities for children, inspired by our new exhibition.
