The National Motor Museum is restoring the Sunbeam 1000hp World Land Speed Record vehicle with the aim of returning to Daytona Beach for the 100 year anniversary of Sir Henry Segrave’s 203.792 mph land speed record on March 29th 2027.
The rear engine roars again!
The engine roared again! The rear engine of the World Land Speed record breaking Sunbeam 1000hp was started for the first time in 90 years in the grounds of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. The car was the first to break the 200 mph barrier in 1927, and it is being restored by the Museum's workshop team. Starting the rear engine is a major milestone on the road to restore the vehicle in time for the 2027 centenary celebrations.
