Verney L. Danvers ran a school of commercial art. In the early 1920s he designed posters for the London Underground in the series Some Posters of Old Streets and later produced posters for the LNER, including the cover of the Camping Holidays booklet in 1934. He also produced commissions for fashion and interior design companies. Danvers work for Shell was used in the prominent campaign the ‘Quick Starting Pair’. From 1926 to 1932, the ‘Quick Starting Pair’ series used a variety of themes to represent the reliability and power of using Shell’s products simultaneously.
